Born in Transcarpathia, Blessed Theodore felt a calling to the priesthood. Studying in Rome, he was ordained in 1937. In 1939, he was called to the teach at the seminary in Uzhhorod. In 1944, he was ordained bishop for the Mukachevo Eparchy. During the Soviet occupation, he was tireless in his care and defense of the Byzantine Catholic Church. On October 27, 1947, he was wounded in a staged accident. He was taken to the hospital, where he was subsequently poisoned, and died.
